Every year thousands..if not millions...of pets die across America due to over population and illness. Unsocialized cats are the first ones to die.
There is no easy way to put it.
Cats, in general, are a skittish and antisocial species. They DO NOT do well with environmental and living changes...for they are indeed "creatures of habit". Now imagine being born wild and not use to humans, loud noises, barking dogs and a cold steel cage. Heartbreaking. Out of fear the cat lashes out. Now it's condemned to die. Is that fair? Did this cat deserve to be put in this situation?
Feral cats and stray cats need humane and ethical management. Catch and Kill DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM! The ONLY solution for feral and stray cats is TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return). Cats that are TNR'd live longer and healthier lives, do not reproduce and fighting and spraying is eliminated. Most of all YOU are reducing the overpopulation crisis in the shelter system.
Did you know that feral kittens can be socialized and found homes?
FOSTERING SAVES LIVES!
The first few weeks of a kittens life is critical when it comes to their future. If trapped before 10 weeks....kittens can be rehabilitated and adapt to the cushy indoor life. Jook at Bella Te Brave for instance. Bella was born feral but, with love, time and patience became her own little feline superstar and feral cat advocate. Think of how many little lives you can make a difference in. We may not be able to save them all...but we CAN make ALL the difference for some of them!
